While state and federal
laws do not require the use of an outer burial container, some cemeteries,
especially perpetual care cemeteries, require an outer burial container in
which the casket is to be placed. The purpose of the outer burial
container is to maintain the level ground in the cemetery by protecting
the casket from the weight of the earth and the heavy equipment used for
burial. In some instances, the outer burial container offers some
protection from outside elements. |
